For Aperture's new edition of Edward Weston: The Flame of Recognition, I was tasked with updating the feel of the book while keeping it true to the original design. To achieve this, I tweaked a number of the details. The first of these changes was the typeface, which I changed to Warnock Pro. Aside from the clear benefit of the range of cuts in the Warnock family, the transitional serif has a nice caligraphic influence that is cleanly adapted. Along with the typeface change, I broke the type into a two column system rather than one to keep the line length tighter and give the pages a slightly more dynamic feel. Finally, I altered some of the methods of distinction for creating visual hierarchy in the text and cleaned up the image proportioning system.
